Memphis, Tennessee MUST SEE!! |
Crossing the Mississippi in to Memphis Tennessee on US Interstate 40 you will not miss the Pyramid at the rivers edge. Built in 1991, the structure plays on the city's namesake in Egypt, known for its ancient pyramids.
Originally serving as the Home court for the University of Memphis men's basketball program it served host to many events including a convention attended by Tigger in 1996 where such notables as Les Brown and Charlton Heston spoke amidst performances by Gladys Knight and Frankie Valli (appearing without the Four Seasons on that occasion).
In April of 2015 the pyramid was reintroduced as the newest and largest retail store for Bass Pro Shops.
In keeping with all the Bass Pro Shops the decor of the shop is as entertaining as the deals and selection in the store is good! Features at the shop include the large store (of course), restaurant and bowling alley inside Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill, Big Cypress Lodge and the Tallest Free Standing elevator in the US called the Sky High Ride. At the top of the ride is The Lookout (Menu) which overlooks the Memphis skyline and Mud Island in the Mississippi River.
