Part 3 of 5 - Lunch in Spanish Town at Mermaid's Dockside Bar and Grill |
Next stop food. We asked to go to a place where the locals eat, nothing touristy. He took us to "Mermaid’s Dockside Bar and Grill" in Spanish Town. It is an open air eatery right on the water. If you look over the rails right next to our tablee you can see tarpon swimming and there was lot of boat watching and dreaming of having a Tigger having his own Tigger striped yacht like those someday.
We started lunch with the frozen Bushwacker. When on vacation it is perfectly acceptable to start drinking at noon. Yummy! For those of you who do not know what a bushwhacker is; it is a creamy chocolaty drink made with Dark Rum Rum, Cream De Cocoa, Baileys, Kahlua, Amaretto, Vodka and Coco Lopez. It is delicious but it sneaks up on you if you’re not careful.
For lunch we ordered the Fish Wrap with French Fries. It was the best fish wrap I had ever eaten. The fish was fried and crispy with plenty of cheese and lettuce wrapped in a large tortilla and grilled to a golden brown. It was served with a secret sauce that was savory with a hint of sweetness and heat. It was perfect for dipping and the entire meal was everything we had hoped it would be. Interesting side fact there are no restrooms on the premises because it is over water. The facilities are in the school next door.
